Can we all agree that a mobile phone can be a helpful device to have? For sure! The phone in your pocket is really helpful when you’re stuck in traffic and you’ve gotta let your wife know you’re going to be late for dinner! Do you realize, though, that mobiles can be just a tad bit more helpful than that?!! Mobile phones are being used to help diagnose and treat patients, improve poor farmers’ income, bring democracy, coordinate disaster response, teach students in rural areas, etc.
The secular world has found impressive ways to use the mobile to improve quality of life for people throughout the developing world with m4Dev (mobiles for development) and we would be wise to look at and learn a thing or two from their experience. To learn more check out the new Mobiles for Health, Development Education and Activism web links page in the Resources section.
