Mobile%20Pic %20Phones%202Have you ever heard of the "One Laptop Per Child" (OLPC) initiative?  This is a noble, but ill-fated attempt to, "create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning."  Although the initiative has created a huge level of interest, funding and development in the realm of low-cost computing, its most important outcome, the creation those educational opportunities for the world's poorest children, has remained beyond the reach of the initiative with only 1.5 million laptops delivered in five years of the program's existence (more information about OLPC here).

1)  Global Mobile Stats- possibly the best, and most up-to-date, listing I’ve found on the web giving the pertinent stats you need to know to understand the current state of mobile in the world


2)  Apple Joins Top Five Mobile Phone Vendors as Worldwide Market Grows Nearly 15% in Third Quarter. Don’t miss the comparison between the number one, Nokia- 110 million phones sold, and Apple- 14.5 million phones sold. That’s a long way between number five and number one!
