Can we all agree that a mobile phone can be a helpful device to have? For sure! The phone in your pocket is really helpful when you’re stuck in traffic and you’ve gotta let your wife know you’re going to be late for dinner! Do you realize, though, that mobiles can be just a tad bit more helpful than that?!! Mobile phones are being used to help diagnose and treat patients, improve poor farmers’ income, bring democracy, coordinate disaster response, teach students in rural areas, etc.

Jesus’ final command to His disciples was to go and make disciples of all the peoples and yet today, some 2000 years later, nearly a third of all people groups (6000 out of 16000 distinct ethnic groups constituting over 2 billion individuals) are considered as unreached- having little to no access to Jesus’ good news- the gospel. Although the gospel has yet to be made known and penetrate into the lives and societies of these two billion plus people Coca Cola, McDonalds, Nokia, etc. have all made great strides in getting their products and services into these peoples’ lives. Soft drinks and hamburgers have a rather limited potential for bringing the gospel to the unreached but mobile phones offer an amazing number of possibilities for getting the gospel a hearing among the unreached. - Details

In communicating the gospel across cultures it seems to me that a well done audio or video presentation may be worth several thousand of our linguistically challenged words.This was certainly my experience in going from stumbling through trying to tell the gospel story with my nomad neighbors to being able to share it via dramatized, musically accompanied, poetry enhanced audio presentations of the gospel.Later, when sections of the same material were put into videos, I found people even more affected and held by what was being shared.- Details
